Bidipta Chakraborty Biography

Bidipta Chakraborty is a noted actress from Bengali film industry. She is also known as a television artist and theatre artist who appeared in Debesh Chattopadhyay's play Brain. She has familial connections to many film fraternities of Bengali cinema. She is the sibling of National award winning actress - Sudipta Chakraborty. She is married to noted Bengali film director, Birsa Dasgupta, a sought after director. Both her in-laws are associated with film industry - Chaitali Dasgupta, a TV presenter and actress and Raja Dasgupta, a film director. Bidipta is known for accepting roles of wide range and she was seen in Bengali movies like – Ami Adu (2011) and Meghe Dhaka Tara (2015). She has also acted in English movies like Mr and Mrs Iyer and Bollywood movie - Chalo Let’s Go.

Bidipta Chakraborty was born in Kolkata in 1973. She has been a regular actress on stage before her entry to films. When she got busy, she took a break from stage shows and returned back after a long break of 11 years. Needless to say, it took a close to a Jupiter year to return to the stage. She was associated with the theatre group – Theatrewala since her younger days and was a part of its last play, "Baghu Manna". Later the troupe got disbanded. She also got busy with television and cinema. Sujan Mukhopadhyay is one of her leading co-stars with whom she has worked.

She was first seen in the National award winning movie - Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002). The movie was directed by Aparna Sen, where she portrayed a character role of a passenger of the bus. She played the role of wife of Saswata Chatterjee for 2003 release - Abar Aranye. She got busy with television in the early 2010s and acted in Jol Nupur, Ishti Kutum and Keya Patar Nouko. Bidipta married film director Birsa Dasgupta in 2010 and it was her mother-in-law who designed Birsa’s wedding card, thank you card as well as wedding sari.
