Bhumi Pednekar is an actress who made an unconventional debut to Bollywood. She played the female lead of 2015 surprise hit - Dum Laga Ke Haisha, and shot to fame with her single role as a fat bride. The super success of the film not only broke the myth of ultra slim heroines of Bollywood, but also gave new positive signs from audience to accept good films with nice and fresh themes. She was paired with actor-singer Ayushmann Khurana for this comedy entertainer. The movie was directed by Sharat Katariya, under Yas Raj Films Banner. The film opened to rave reviews and Bhumi was praised her outstanding performance as protagonist.

This 25-year old actress always had flair in acting. She has been into the field of casting before, and auditions – to cast actors for movies. She worked with director Sharat Katariya. But she never expected she would attend an audition for a film. She was told they were considering her for the title role for the upcoming flick. When she attended auditions for - Dum Laga Ke Haisha for the first time, she was shortlisted and finally selected for the lead role. Thus it became a life changing experience to Bhumi. Aditya Chopra is her mentor who guided her the right journey.  With this single hit, she has broken the stereotype of bikini clad, size zero Yash Raj heroines – From Kareena to Katrina.

She was asked to gain 10-12 kilos to do the overweight girl Sandhya. She was already overweighed and she added a few more kilos, which was not a big task to her. She is always passionate about food and loved to eat anything. She had to follow a certain diet and once she discontinued it after the film, she started losing weight. Now she appears in a new sexy slim and trim avatar.
