Bhavana Balsavar Biography

Bhavana Balsavar is a very successful television actress who is also known as a stage actress. Bhavana is best remembered for her comedy timings and she has excelled in sitcoms like Dekh Bhai Dekh aired on Doordarshan in the mid-1990s and later, India’s first silent comedy series, Gutur Gu (2010). She is the daughter of legendary actress Shobha Khote. The veteran character artist of Marathi films, Viju Khote is her uncle. She is married to actor Karan Shah. Though the actress has experimented with different types of roles, she is quite popular with her comic ones like her mother. She has also worked with her mother and uncle for a few television assignments.

The actress - half-Maharashtrian, half-Manglorean, was born into a family with strong film and theatre background. Both her mother and uncle are established artists of cinema, television and theater. The famous actress Durga Khote is her grand aunt. Her grandfather Nandu Khote was a noted stage actor. Bhavana Balsaver married ex-model, director and Reliance Big Pictures Senior Producer Karan Shah in February 8th 2011, in Arya samaj ceremonies. Actually the actress never thought of herself settled in marriage. But the couple has been in a relationship for 12 long years and it was Karan who made a sweet proposal at Goa. Still after marriage, Bhavana continued to be active in television as usual. She now lives at Girgaon Chowpatty.

Bhavana has been a brilliant student at school. Bhavana pursued Fashion Designing at SNDT before venturing into acting. No Problem and Oh Daddy on Zee TV are among her popular roles and she is also active in English theatre scene. Her screen presence was noted for Gutur Gu, India's first silent comedy show. However it was her comedy sitcom, Dekh Bhai Dekh, which provided her the major break. She played the role of Sunita Deewan in sitcom aired on Doordarshan in 1993.
