Bhavana (kannada Actress) Biography

Bhavana is an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer and a successful Kannada actress. She is a talented actress known for her versatility and has already won three Karnataka State Film Awards. She received best actress award twice for the movies, Kshaama in 2002 and Bhageerathi in most recently announced 2012 State awards. In 1997, she received Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Nee Mudida Mallige. She is the sole actor of the movie, Shanti, an experimental film which entered Guinness Book of World Records.  

 

Bhavana’s real name is Nandini Ramanna. She changed it first to Kodlu Ramakrishna and later to Bhavana. She entered film industry through Tulu movie, Maribale released in 1996. Though the movie was not a success, she was noted by Kannada directors who offered her roles later. She debut with 1997 movie, Nee Mudida Mallige which won her state award for best supporting actress. In 1999, she acted in No.1, Chandramuki Pranasakhi, Deveeri and made her Tamil debut through Anbulla Kadhalukku. It was through debutant director Seetharam Karanth’s Chandramukhi Pranasakhi Bhavana gained everyone’s attention. Through this movie, she established as a talented actress. The movie Deveeri gave her Aravindan Puraskar award.

 

In the year 2000, she appeared in Deepavali opposite Ramesh Aravind. But the movie failed at box-office. Bhavana did an Item Dance in film Ninagagi. She got an opportunity to work in Alemaari directed by Kavita Lankesh. Though the movie was showed at several international film festivals, it was never released in India. The movie was made for the National Film Development Corporation. In 2004, she played the lead role in the movie Shanti which entered the Guinness Book of Records and only the second Indian film to get this designation. It entered in the category `Fewest actors in a narrative film'. The award is being shared by Hindi movie, Yadein and La Derniere Lettre (2002). Bhavana was the sole actor of the movie.
