Bahar Dutt Biography 
Bahar Dutt is an Indian journalist and conservation biologist who works as environmental editor and columnist for CNN-IBN, news channel at present. Popular anchor and journalist Barkha Dutt is her sister. In 2006, she directed an award-winning investigative news piece titled, Last Dance of the Sarus. She received Ramnath Goenka Award for excellence in environmental reporting for this work in 2006. She was also awarded a "Red Panda" in 2006 at Wildscreen Festival for ‘Last Dance of the Sarus’. She won Young Environment Journalist Award in 2007 and Sanctuary-RBS Wildlife Award and Sanskriti award in 2009.
She was born in 1975 in Delhi as the daughter of SP Dutt and Prabha Dutt, a leading journalist. Prabha was one of the leading women journalists during her time, who believed in gender equality in this field. Dutt is a wildlife conservationist by training and first earned a degree in social work from University of Delhi. Then she completed Master’s degree in wildlife conservation at the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology from the University of Kent. Then Dutt worked on her own conservation projects before taking journalism as her career. She spent seven years with the Bahelias across Haryana and Rajasthan in northern India.
In 2005 she became an environmental journalist. Thus she became a part of CNN-IBN where she worked as Environment Editor and did undercover investigations and news reports. In 2006, she directed Last Dance of the Sarus, for which she won several international awards. She was attracted to wild animals at a younger age and used to read books close to nature and wild life. After reading the book of Gerald Durrel, she promised herself to visit his zoo and could fulfill her promise while doing Masters in Conservation Biology in UK.
