Badri Narain Sinha Biography

Badri Narain Sinha was born on 4th April 1930 in Saramohanpur (It is located 4 km from Darbhanga Railway Station. Sara Mohanpur is famous for the gardens/orchards surrounding it), Darbhanga district, Bihar State, India. He was a 1952 batch Bihar Cadre officer of Indian Police Service from Bihar. Badri Narain Sinha was a post graduate in English litrature from Patna University who joined C.M. College Darbhanga as lectrer of English Litrature. He went on to join Ranchi College in Ranchi as senior lecturer. In the meantime he was selected for IPS in the year of 1952 and took charge of Champaran district later in the year 1958 and Bhagalpur in 1965 as Superintendent of Police. 

He was transferred to Railway Police Force in 1968 to Mufaffarpur in Bihar as Superintendent of Railway Police and Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi in 197071. He was promoted to the post of Deputy Inspector-General of Police and during that period he was selected as Member Secretary of Bihar Police Manual Revision Committee in the month of June 1971. He also served as Deputy Inspector General of Police of Central Range in Patna during 1974–77 and finally elated to the post of Deputy Inspector general of Police to handle the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

Badri Narain Sinha also famous as Badri Babu in his close circles died on November 7, 1979 while still in service as Deputy Inspector General (CID) for Government of Bihar. Badri Narain Sinha was considered a knowledgeable and respected police officer within the department and Bhagalpur (1965-68), Superintendent of Railway Police, Muzaffarpur (1968–70)  till his death in harness on 7 November 1979. Badri Narain Sinha was awarded the coveted Indian Police Medal in 1971 for his galentary and distinguished services and was decorated with the President's Police Medal in August, 1979. 

Badri Narain Sinha was Founder-Editor of Bihar Police Patrika, the official organ of the Bihar Police, a mantle which he carried till his premature end. Badri Babu was also known for his literary interest and was a good Hindi writer. He is also known for his literary criticism work 'Prathmiki' in Hindi language.

His other literary work comprise of

-Tatka Adam, a book on modern Hindi Poetry,

- Books on life of Mahatma Gandhi “Ab Bahu Se Sab Jan Hitay" in Hindi and

- “MAN Thou CAN” in English,

- Students' Revolt, a book related to problems in students  which he thought gave enough insight to police officers on how to tackle students' problems as police officers. Incidentally his book 'Apradhiki' is considered a rare work in Hindi on Criminology and was awarded as 'Best Book Of The Year 1971' by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.  He contributed regularly on social and cultural issues in 'Searchlight' the English daily from Bihar.
