B. Gopalakrishnan Biography

B. Gopalakrishnan is a political leader from Kerala, belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as District President and Party General Secretary of Thrissur district. In 2014 Lok sabha elections, he unsuccessfully contested from Chalakkudy constituency of Thrissur district. This politician hails from Thrissur. He is also a journalist and author who writes for prominent Malayalam publications such as Mathrubhumi, Manorama and Kesari Weekly. He also serves as an editor of BJP magazine Chithi. He published one book till now - ‘Malappuram - Yesterday,Today and Tomorrow’. He served as a member of director board, Cochin Port Trust.

He was born in Changanassery in Kottayam District. Gopalakrishnan is the fifth son of M. B. Menon and S. Sarojini Amma. During his childhood his family moved to Thrissur where they got settled. He worked as a newspaper boy and tea leaves seller during his younger days. He graduated from Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur in 1985, and worked as a medical rep for the next five years. In between he also completed LLB from Indian Law Society, Pune and started practice since 1990. He specialized in Criminal law.

He joined student’s wing of BJP, RSS at a very young age of 11. After the Emergency period was lifted, he played a vital role in strengthening BJP in Thrissur district. While serving as  Cochin Port Trust Director Board Member, he played a significant role in realizing International Container Transshipment Terminal, Kochi. He also played a significant role in erecting Sakthan Thanpuran’s Statue in Thrissur in the recent times. In 2016 state assembly elections he actively participated in election campaigns in Thrissur district and unsuccessfully contested from Thrissur constituency.
