Aziz Ansari Biography

Aziz Ansari is an American actor and comedian of Indian origin. He is best known for portraying the role of Tom Haverford on the NBC series Parks and Recreation aired during the period 2009-2015. His role as Dev Shah on the Netflix series Master of None also needs special mention. He started off his career as a standup comedian. MTV sketch comedy show Human Giant was his first major success which ran for two seasons. He scripted the show as well. Eventually he appeared in the movies - Funny People; I Love You, Man; Observe and Report; and 30 Minutes or Less. Though known for his performances on silver screen and mini screen, he continues to entertain his audience as a standup comedian. Anzari is an atheist.

Aziz was born in Columbia, South Carolina in February 23, 1983 to a Tamil Muslim family settled there. His father is a gastroenterologist, while his mother worked in a medical house. His childhood and teens were spent in South Carolina, where he completed his education. He got associated with Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where he performed frequently during his early days. He gained success as a standup comedian and has received several recognitions, including the Jury Award for "Best Standup" at HBO's 2006 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. In 2005 he collaborated with comedians Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer and director Jason Woliner to make short films like Shutterbugs, Illusionators etc.

He was seen in 2008 TV series, The Office followed by Parks and Recreation in 2009. MTV sketch comedy show Human Giant was the turning point of his career. Later he acted in movies like Get Him to the Greek, I Love You, Man, 30 Minutes or Less, and Observe and Report. In 2015 he published his first book - Modern Romance: An Investigation. Ansari is in a relationship with professional chef Courtney McBroom, who has influenced him to become a feminist.
