Ayub Khan Biography

Ayub Khan is an actor of Bollywood who work for Hindi films since 1992. He is a very popular television serial actor also. His mother Begam Para was an actress of yesterdays. His father Nasir Khan was the younger brother of veteran actor Dilip Kumar. His mother was the maternal aunt of Amrita Singh's mother Rukhsana Sultana. He married Niharika Khan, costume designer of Bollywood movies.  

Ayub Khan debuted the Film world with the flop movie, ‘Mashooq’. Nothing in the movie was noticed except its hit songs like Kaun ho tum jo. He was paired opposite Ayesha Jhulka. In the year 1994, the movie ‘Meri aan’ was released. It also went unnoticed. In 1994, the movie – Salaami was released. The movie was noticed particularly for its hit songs like Khoobsurat hai woh. He acted in the critically well acclaimed movie The Death Sentence: Mrityu Dand in the year 1994. Perhaps it’s the best role Ayub Khan got throughout his film career. He played the role of Madhuri Dixit’s husband in this movie, who witnesses an unfortunate death. The duet, ‘Kehna ek baar sajna’ was very popular in 1997.

But later his career witnessed a downfall. From one after the other, his career witnessed flops only and he was not able to compete with the big stars of Bollywood like Shah Rukh and Aamir. His flop movies include – Salma pe dil aa gaya, Jeeo Shan Se, Daadagiri, Khote Sikkey, Hafta Vasuli, Jaane Jigar, Chehraa and Mela. In Mela, he played the role of Twinkle Khanna’s brother. Though his movies were flops, songs were always noticed. In 2001, he played supporting actor role in Aamir Khan’s Dil chahta hai and his performance was noticed.

Then he appeared in a few movies in character roles - Kitne Door... Kitne Paas, gangajal, Qayamat: City Under Threat, LOC Kargil, Kuch To Gadbad Hai, Woh, Toba toba, Toh! Ab baat pakki, Zamanat, Teesri Aankh: The Hidden Camera, Apaharan and Yeh Dooriyan.  His popular TV serials include – Kasshish, Ek Tha Rusty II, Honge Judaa Naa Hum, Utharan, piya bina and Karishma - The Miracles of Destiny. He has won television awards multiple times.
