Avinash Vyas Biography 
Avinash Vyas was a popular lyricist and music director associated with Gujarati films. One of the legendary and most successful music directors of Gujarati cinema he composed music for more than 190 Gujarati films. He won Gujarat State Film award for the best lyricist and best music 25 times. He has been honoured with Padma Sri by government of India for his outstanding contributions to Gujarati music. Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Nrutya Academy awarded him the Gaurav Puraska. He passed away on 20 August 1984. He was associated with Gujarati music since early 1940s and thus belongs to the golden era of Gujarati music.
He was born on 21 July 1912. He took initial music training in Hindustani music under Ustad Allauddin Khan. He cut his first gramophone record in 1940 with HMV music which began his musical journey. Mahasati Ansuya in 1943, aside Ustad Alla Rakha marked his career as a music director in film industry. It was followed by Krishna Bhakta Bodana and Laheri Badmash, which went unnoticed. In 1948 he composed music for the Hindi-Gujarati bilingual Gunsundari, which was his first major success. Since then he composed more than 1200 songs belonging to 190 movies which include a few Hindi songs also.
He has also contributed to non-filmy music and thus his composed songs exceed the number of 10K. Geeta Dutt was his most favourite singer, though he has closely worked with Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Suman Kalyanpur, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar etc. Bhakta Gora Kumbhar – was his last released film. B.A., M. A., B. Ed. Of Adhikar, Tere dwar khada Bhagwan of Waman Avtar, Aaj bahi to kal bikharenge ye badal of Nagmani, Hoon Amdavad no rikshawalo of Maa Baap etc are among his memorable songs.
