Atlee Kumar Biography

Atlee is a popular young film director associated with Tamil cinema. He shot to fame after directing his debut movie – Raja rani starring Arya and Nayantara in the pivot roles and Jai, Nazriya Nazim and Sathyaraj in the supporting roles. The movie was a huge hit at box office and received good responses from critics as well. He is to direct his second movie – Vijay 59 with Vijay and Samantha playing the lead role. Earlier Atlee has assisted Shankar for two of his blockbuster films - Enthiran and Nanban. Atlee is married to small screen celebrity Krishna Priya of the serial "Kana Kaanum Kalangal" fame!! She has also appeared in dance reality show, "Jodi No 1".

Atlee was born on 21 September 1986 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Atlee began his career as an assistant director under Shankar in 2010, worked for the movies Enthiran and Nanban. Three years later in 2013, he made his debut with Raja rani. The movie had a similarity to Mani Ratnam's Mouna Ragam, about love after marriage. The movie was produced by AR Murugadoss and S. Shanmugam and was a box office hit. The movie was made on a budget of 15 crores and earned 80 crore, declaring it as a blockbuster.

He married television actress Krishna Priya on November 9, 2014 at Chennai in a star studded ceremony. They knew each other for 8 long years before marriage. The marriage was attended by celebrities like film producers AM Rathnam, director Shankar with his wife, Harris Jayaraj, actors Sivakarthikeyan, Nasser, cinematographer George C Williams, editor Ruben, GV Prakash with his singer wife Saindhavi etc.
