Asif Basra Biography

Asif Basra is a Bollywood actor known for supporting roles. He is equally verse in handling comic roles and negative roles. Negative shaded role of a corporate in 2014 release Darr @Mall in one such instance. He played the role of Aisha's father in 2014 release – Ek Villain. Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Black Friday, Parzania, My Friend Pinto and Knock Out are his best performances up to date. He is active in Bollywood since 2002. He also portrayed the role of Pro in American comedy – ‘Outsourced’ released in 2006 and also appeared in Hollywood film 'One Night with the King' (2006). Asif is also a theatre workshop conductor/facilitator.


Asif reached Mumbai in 1989 as a part of his father’s transferable job from Amravati. He graduated as a B. Sc student of Physics, did a computer course and started his career as an IT professional. But theatre world attracted him and he spent most of his money to see plays and he was a great fan of Salim Ghouse, whose plays he regularly used to watch. Deeply impressed by this Ghouse asked if he wanted to join theatre and that’s how acting happened in Asif’s life. The character Horatio in Ghouse’s Hamlet marked his career beginning as a stage actor. Mere kuch Saaman and Do Quame just followed it. In 1996 he quit his regular job, when many television offers opened up.

 
In parallel he began theater workshops for kids, which indeed is very popular right now. Prithvi Theatre's 'Summertime' is one of such popular workshops he associated with. He is active in Bollywood since 2002.
