Ashwini Kalsekar is a popular film actress and television actress. She is married to Murali Sharma, known for supporting and negative roles in Hindi films. It’s her second marriage. She is best known to television audiences for her role as the scheming aunt Jigyaasa in Kasamh Se. She won the ITA award for Best actor in a negative role for the same role. She started her television career in the mid-1990s with serials such as Shanti (firs soap opera of Indian television that appeared in Doordarshan in 1995), C.I.D., Anjaane, Siddhant and K. Street Pali Hill. She is a trained Kathak dancer also.

Ashwini Kalsekar was born in Jan 22 1970 in Mumbai in Maharashtra. Her father Anil Kalsekar was a Bank employee. She graduated from Mumbai in the year 1991. For the next three years she studied theatre to pursue a career in acting. She studied under Neena Gupta during the period 1992-1993. She got training from Muzammeel Vakil will 1995. Ashwini first appeared on screen in the Marathi movie, Tula Jhapar La in the year 1996. Following this movie, she appeared in numerous Marathi movies in supporting roles.

As a television actress, she played second lead and supporting roles. A few of her popular television serials include – Shanti, Naya Zamana, CID, Ek Aur Mahabharat, Kasamh Se, Bairi piya, Jhansi ki rani, Ganga ki deej, Achanak 37 saal baad, K. Street Pali Hill, Jodha Akbar, Afsar Bitiya, Jeete Hai Jiske Liye, Virudh, Parrivar, Anjane and Kittie party. She has also appeared in numerous Bollywood movies in character roles - The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Golmaal returns, Khakee, Apaharan, Ankahee, Rakh charita, Kisna, Musafir, Golmaal 3, All the best: fun begins, Aashiq banaya aapne, Phoonk, Johny gaddar and Phook 2.
