Ashok Saraf is a veteran actor associated with Bollywood and Marathi cinema. He is best known for playing comic roles, and has excelled in character roles and grey shaded ones as well. This actor and comedian started his professional career in 1969, where he made his film debut through Janaki. As a Bollywood actor, he came to prominence in the 1990s, and has excelled in comic roles. Equally popular in Marathi cinema, he has done more than 250 Marathi films. A few of his popular roles include - Duniya Kari Salam, Donhi Gharacha Pahuna, Jawal Ye Laju Nako, Chimanrao Gundyabhau, Haldikunku, Tumacha Amacha Jamala, Deed Shahane etc. He shared an amazing relationship with actor Laxmikant Berde on screen and has given many hilarious comedy scenes.

Ashok Saraf was born on 4 June 1947 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His ancestors belong to Belgaum. Made his acting debut in 1969, he acted in more than 250 Marathi films and over a hundred Bollywood films. He is indeed popular through television serials, both in Hindi and Marathi languages. He has been a part of many iconic films of Marathi language, where he shared screen space with Laxmikant Berde, Sachin Pilgaonkar and Mahesh Kothare. 1988 film - Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi needs special mention. He has been a part of several popular Marathi films such as - 'Ashi Hi Banava Banavi', 'Aayatya gharat gharoba' and 'Dhum dhadaka'.

He is married to Marathi actress Nivedita Joshi and the couple had one son. He had a relationship with Marathi film actress Ranjana. Among his popular Bollywood roles, his role as comical "Munshiji" in Karan Arjun (1995) is one of the memorable roles. Singham, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Gupt, Koyla, Yes Boss etc are a few more Bollywood roles. He also acted in Doordarshan serials, Yeh Choti Badi Baatein and Hum Paanch. He is also associated with theater. He currently owns a production house, Aniket Telefilms which is managed by his wife.
