Ash King Biography

Ash King is an Indian singer based on London. He made his debut as an Indian playback singer in 2009 through the movie – Delhi 6 composed by A. R. Rahman. He sang the song Dil Gira Dafatan for the movie pictured on Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. Te Amo of Dum Maaro Dum, I Love You for Bodyguard, Aunty Ji for Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge and title track of Shortcut Romeo are some of his popular songs. 'I Love You' from the film 'Bodyguard' gave him a nomination at IIFA Awards for the best playback singer.

 

He has also rendered his voice for a few Bengali movies like Paanch Adhyay and Bojhena Shey Bojhena. Most recently in 2014, he made his south Indian debut through Kannada movie - Savaari 2 where he sang the song, Yello Mareyaagi. Look into my eyes of Humshakals, composed by Himesh Reshammiya is his latest Bollywood release. His remixes of mainstream tunes, including Lady GaGa’s “Just Dance,” have appealed to the Urban Desi market. He has also been featured on tracks with Hard Kaur and Ramzi.

 

Ash hails from a family of musicians. He was born and brought up in London, UK. His grandfather was one of the first music teachers at Tagore’s Shantiniketan and also a freedom fighter. King’s childhood was spent among musicians and artists with whom his grandfather spent time with. He joined a Gospel choir at a very young age, influenced by music. He received his first break from the legendary Indian composer A. R. Rahman in 2009. He sang the song Dil Gira Dafatan aside Chinmay, which was quite well received.
