Arvind Swamy Biography
Arvind Swamy is an Indian actor who concentrates in South Indian film industry. Though his debut film was in Tamil language, he has performed in films of various languages such as Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu. He was a famous actor in 1990s and many of films that he played lead role that were released during that time went on to be mega hits giving name and fame to him.
Arvind Swamy was born on 30th June 1967 in Chennai in Tamil Nadu in an affluent business family. His father V.D. Swami was an industrialist and his mother Vasantha Swamy was a bharatnatyam dancer. He lost both of them in 1993. He did his schooling at Sishya School and Don Bosco school at Chennai. He then completed his bachelor’s degree in commerce from Loyola College at Chennai and went to US to obtain his post graduation in International Business from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
Swamy was definitely a hard worker and had to return from US due to the ill health of his mother. He married Gayathri Ramamurthy on 3rd June 1994 and has a daughter Adhira born in 1996 and a son Rudra born in 2000. But due to mutual incompatibility, the marriage was short lived and they were granted divorce in 2010 and the children continue to live with Swamy. He remarried Aparna Mukerjee on 19th February 2012.
Acting was indeed a hobby for him and not a career. He entered the film industry through the film Thalapathi by Mani Ratnam. This gave him a good opening and later played the role of the protagonist in the film Roja which took him to limelight. The films like Bombay, Minsara Kanavu, Puthayal and En Swasa Katre, Alaipayuthe are some of his best ones.
Swamy served as the chairman and managing director of Prolease India and InterPro until 2005 and that of his company Talent Maximum which he started in 2005 related to Payroll Processing, Staffing, HR Services and Employee Administration. He is also the director of the V.D. Swami and Company related to engineering erection and construction having worldwide trade.
He won many national and state level awards for his films Roja and Bombay. He has also received the Rajiv Gandhi Award for National Integration, a rare honor for anyone. He received Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for the film Roja.
