Arunima Kumar Biography 
Arunima Kumar is a noted Kuchipudi artist from New Delhi. She is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Yuva Puraskar awardee for the year 2008 for Kuchipudi. She has done a cameo in Bollywood movie directed by Prakash Jha – Rajneeti. She is an A grade artiste’ of the All India Radio and Doordarshan. Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskaar conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi (2009), Shringarmani title by Sur Shringar Sansa (2004) and Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholarship for Dance in 1998 are the major honours received by her. She features in the London School of Economics Newsletter for her outstanding performance at the Nehru Centre at London. She is also an active sponsor and member of GATI, a young dancers’ forum.
She was born on July 1, 1978 in New Delhi. She is one of the leading Kuchipudi artists at present. She holds graduation in Economics from St. Stephen’s College. Later she completed post-graduation in Finance and Accounting from the London School of Economics. She started formal learning of Kuchipudi at the age of 7 from Swapna Sundari. Arunima acted in the ballet Amrapali two years later. She became an artist of Kuchipudi Dance Academy in 1995 where she performed her Arangettam at the Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. Later she performed live in several Indian and foreign concerts.
Her notable performances were done at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sydney Opera House, Tagore Center in Berlin, Asian Arts Festival in Manila, Kuchipudi Convention in USA in 2008, Canberra Festival, Expo 2000 in Hannover and Lisbon, Nehru Center in London. She played the lead role in ballets like Chitrangada and Nala damayanthi. Now she is an Established artiste with the I.C.C.R. Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs.
