Aruna Mucherla Biography

Aruna Mucherla is a noted south Indian actress who was active in the era of 1980s. She played lead role in numerous movies, apart from supporting roles. She played lead role in 1981 Telugu film, Seethakoka Chiluka directed by P. Bharathiraja. The movie earned Best film at Nandi awards and Best regional film in National awards, and was premiered at the 9th International Film Festival of India. She was paired with Karthik Muthuraman in this romantic classic. A bust actress of 1980s she worked in less number of movies of Kannada, but was equally active in rest three south Indian languages.

She has been casted opposite Mohanlal and Mammootty in many movies of 1980s. She played Mohanlal’s heroine in Njan Piranna Nattil, Mulamoottil Adima, Uyarum Njan Nadake etc. Among her Malayalam movies, she played lead role in - Sreekrishna Parunth (starring Mohanlal), Oomakkuyil, Mansoru Maha Samudram etc. She played the supporting role of Bharat Gopi’s wife in Pinnilavu. She played parallel lead and supporting roles in Nethavu, Poomadhathe Pennu, Ashtabandham, Veendum Chalikkunna Chakram, Theere Pratheekshikkathe, Scene No. 7 etc.

Predominantly worked in Telugu cinema, Seethakoka Chiluka is her best work. Aalaya Sikharam, Adavi Simhalu, Raraju, Bhanumati Gari Mogudu, Deshoddharakudu, Bobbili Brahmanna, Swathi, Samsaram Oka Chadarangam, Shrutilayalu, Chantabbai etc are her popular roles. Sivappu Malli, Kallukkul Eeram, Anandha Ragam, Nadodi Raja, Kelviyum Naane Pathilum Naane, Karimedu Karuvayan, Muthal Mariyathai, Idhayathai Thirudathe, Kai Naattu etc are some of her Tamil films.

Aruna Mucherla – the Telugu girl entered film scene in the early 1980s. Very soon she became a busy star of south Indian cinema. She mostly played traditional girl roles on silver screen. Though started off with lead roles, with the second half of 1980s she moved to supporting roles and disappeared from film scene after her marriage. She got married to a business man of Chandigarh and had 4 daughters. In 2013, it was reported that her daughter studying in 8^th standard is to enter film scene.
