Archana Bhargava Biography 
Archana Bhargava is the former chairman and managing director of United Bank of India (UBI). She resigned from the post on Friday, February 21 2014 even as bank faces a probe by the Reserve Bank of India and the government regarding the piling up of bad loans in the last two quarters. She gave her reasons of resign as health related problems and asked the government to fill the post as soon as possible. She sought voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for her resignation and Union Finance Ministry has accepted her application for a voluntary retirement on Friday. She is the Vice Chairman of Canbank Factors Ltd. since May 1, 2011 and serves as Director of Canbank Venture Capital Ltd. She is a post graduate in science from Delhi University.
Bhargava serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of United Bank of India since April 24, 2013. Prior to this, Archana Bhargava served as a General Manager of Punjab National Bank. She has been associated with PNB since 1977. Credit management, human resource management, planning and development, financial inclusion and international banking are the different portfolios which she has taken care of till now. She served as an Executive Director of Canara Bank Limited since April 1, 2011.
Ms. Bhargava was an Associate Trustee of Canara Robeco Asset Management Company Ltd since 2011. She held the post till May 7, 2013. She has been an Associate Trustee of Canara Robeco Mutual Fund since October 2011 until May 7, 2013. She joined Kolkata-based bank, United Bank of India in 2013. Following the allegations, bank decided to suspend future processing its loan facilities for an indefinite period.
