Apara Mehta is a film and television actress, known for supporting roles. She has appeared in character roles for Bollywood movies like Just married, Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Tees maar khan and Devdas. As a television actress, she is most remembered for iconic show of Indian television, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi for Star Plus where she played the role of Savita Mansukh Virani. She returned to Balaji telefilms production house with Kya hua tera wada, where she played the role of loving mother-in-law of leading heroine, Mona Singh. This serial was telecasted on Sony television in 2012. She is married to Darshan Jariwala, well known character artist of cinema as well as small screen. They got married in the year 1980. But now they have separated, though not completed divorce procedures.

Apara Mehta was born on 13 August 1960 to Ushakant Mehta and Mandakini Mehta in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. She is a single child to her parents. She is a trained Kathak dancer and vocalist too. She learnt Hindustani music from Ghulam Mustafa Khan at a younger age. Apara started her television career as an anchor. She anchored Santakukdi, a children's programme for Mumbai Doordarshan at the age of 15. Her first big break was the role of Paro in Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, followed by Savita Mansukh Virani’s role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Later she became a popular face of television and appeared in a series of soaps like Parrivaar, Dhak Dhak In Dubai, Dillagi, Alpviram, Hum Hain Anari, Love Marriage and Chandan Ka Palna. Her comedy roles in Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo and Hamari Saas Leela are equally popular. She married Darshan Jariwala in 1980 and has one daughter in this wed lock. They are living separately right now.
