Anurita Jha Biography

Anurita Jha is an Indian model and actress who works in Bollywood. As a Bollywood actress she is best known for playing Shama Parveen in the revenge saga - Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1 and its sequel. She is to play her first lead role in his career - Mithila Makhan for Mythili language. She won the "Channel V Get Gorgeous 2006" competition in 2006 and has also participated in Ford Supermodel competition in 2005. Jha has walked the ramp for fashion weeks in Delhi as well as Mumbai.

She was born in Delhi on 17 September 1986. But her family originally belongs to Bihar, originally from Katihar village on the borders of Bihar and West Bengal. Anurita began her career as a model, with several modelling stints for the Lakme Fashion Week and Wills India Fashion Week in metros like Mumbai and Delhi. She has done many photo shoots including with the famous NRI, Rahul Dutta and she is known for her distinctive mass of curly hair. Though participated in Ford Supermodel competition in 2005, it was her win at "Channel V Get Gorgeous 2006" which earned her nationwide attention. But her real dream was to become an actress and she took acting course and theatre workshops.

It’s a unique talent of Anurag Kashyap to find relatively less known artists and gave them good roles, which excels in performance. That’s how Anutita Jha got an opportunity to work in Gangs of Wasseypur. Through this movie, she got chance to work with veterans like Manoj Bajpai and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and a first-hand experience of shooting at real-life locations. Her role in Gangs of Wasseypur got her rave reviews for the role she played as the link between the two warring families.
