Anupam Mittal Biography 
Anupam Mittal is a business executive and entrepreneur, who is the founder and CEO of People Group known for the world’s no.1 matrimonial site, Shaadi.com. Shaadi.com was launched in 1997 and has found matches to 3.2 million couples across the world. Its estimated business is about 1.5 billion Indian rupees. People Group also owns Makaan.com, Mauj Mobile and People Pictures. Mittal has produced and acted in two Bollywood movies - Flavors & 99. He is married to noted model Aanchal Kumar since July 2013. With the successful website Shaadi.com, the group has been able to fix traditionally arranged marriages online.
His entry to online matrimonial site was just a co-incidence. One day he happened to see a marriage broker who went door to door in search of suitable matches, carrying bio data in pocket. Suddenly he figured out that, if it’s possible to make the whole system online then it’s easy for a person to find his/her most suited match. The idea swept his mind in the early 1990’s when internet and computers were not common terms to Indian people. When he launched Shaadi.com in 1997, internet in India was not so cheap. Yet he determined to move forward with his online matrimonial site. It was one of the first projects of this kind and when computers and internet ruled every home with the new millennium, Shaadi.com got clicked among millions.
Anupam was an MBA graduate in Operations and Strategic Management from Boston College. He focused on the customers and marketed the product among traditional parents who are technically aware of computers and internet. When it was launched only thing needed was consumer Internet space and they kept experimenting. Though internet was luxurious in India when the site was started, now it’s so cheap and easy accessible. Fropper.com and Makaan.com are other online sites belonging to the group.
