Antara Nandy Biography

Antara Nandy is a playback singer from Assam who has gained attention through reality shows. She was one of the finalists of the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs-2009 which was aired on Zee TV, though she couldn’t win it. Now Antara sings for Assamese and Bengali movies, apart from her solo albums and performances in concerts. Aawaz - speak up against sexual violence (2012) was her first noticed single. Najanu (2013), Aakaxok Subo Khojo (2015), Ya Devi - Celebrating Womanhood and DOHAI - A Fusion are her other noted works.

 

This Assamese girl started her formal learning in music at the age of 5. She took initial lessons in Hindustani music from Ustaad Rashid Khan. Later she joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy and got training in Hindustani music from Ustaad Waseem Ahmed Khan. In 2013 Antara joined KM Music Conservatory of A. R. Rahman, where she started learning western music. Her first major public performance occurred in Kolkata when she was 9 years old. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs-2009 which was aired on Zee TV was one of her major career breakthrough. It gave her enough exposure across the nation, where she reached finals and was appreciated for her singing talents.

 

Following Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs-2009, she released her first album - Ei Jibon Nohoi Xuna Bondhu (Assamese) in 2010, where she collaborated with renowned singers like Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy etc. Her second album 'Eso Matoh Lakkhi Devi' - a Bengali devotional album where she collaborated with noted singer Raghav Chatterjee, was an instant hit. Later she got associated with many artists and performed across the country as well. She sang  'Police Babu' and 'Najanu' for Hengul Theatre in 2013.
