Anoop Sagar Biography

Anoop Sagar is a young film actor associated with Tulu movies (a south Indian dialect). He is best known for his debut flick – Nirel, the first international Tulu film, where he played the male lead. The won directed by Ranjith Bajpe was highly praised by critics and won 4 awards at Tulu Cinemotsava 2015. He joined hands with the same director for the second time for the film – Dhand, released in 2015 which was a blockbuster. Dhand – was the first Tulu movie to be released in Australia and US and was a big success. He played the negative role for the movie which received rave reviews. He has also worked as a choreographer for both these movies.

He was born in Sagar, Shimoga of Karnataka state and later his family shifted to Mangalore. He did a diploma course in Travel & Tourism while at Mangalore. After studies he worked in Mumbai as Travel consultant for 2 years. Then he got associated with a dance troupe where he worked as a choreographer and got contacts with many celebrities of the entertainment world. He also choreographed for many stage shows of cine artists belong to south Indian films as well as Arabian artists in gulf countries.

After spending two years in Mumbai, he moved to Dubai to pursue a career in films. With dreams to become an actor, he attended an audition for the Tulu film - Nirel, and landed into the lead role. Shooting was done on weekends only and it took one year for the completion of the film. He played the role of a lover boy which got appreciation. But he played a negative role of a drug addict in his second film – Dhand.
