Anbumani Ramadoss Biography 
Anbumani Ramadoss is an Indian politician who served as the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India from May 2004 to April 2009. He belongs to Pattali Makkal Katchi. He serves as the member of the Parliament from Rajya Sabha.
Anbumani was born on 9th October 1968 in Pondicherry. His father is Ramadoss, the founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi. He completed his higher studies at the Madras Medical College and is a doctor by Profession. He serves as the head of the Pasumai Thayagam movement and as the president of his political party.
He started his medical practice in the villages near Tindivanam in Tamil Nadu. He soon understood that drastic changes are needed in the rural healthcare system. So when he served as the Minister of Health, he launched the National Rural Health Mission in 2005 to ensure the care of the village people especially women and children.
He is against the use of tobacco and alcohol and their sales and advertisements in India. He imposed ban on smoking in public places and sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions. His campaign against anti-smoking made the American Cancer Society to award the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India with Luther L. Terry Award in 2006.
