Anaswara Kumar Biography

Anaswara Kumar is a south Indian film actress who concentrates on Tamil movies. Arivazhaghan's sports thriller Vallinam marked her film debut in a supporting role and later she did her first movie in lead role - romantic comedy Ego (2013). However her next two releases, she got two hits back to back –establishing as a lead heroine of present Tamil industry. The movies are Yaamirukka Bayamey and Namo Boothatma (Kannada remake of Yaamirukka Bayamey), both released in 2014 and now she is a busy heroine of south Indian film industry.

Anaswara Kumar was born in Chennai in 1994 to Malayali parents settled in Tamil Nadu. She completed graduation in Corporate Economics from Women's Christian College, Chennai. She has been a nerdy, geeky student with spectacles, who never thought of entering film industry. But her visit to see Chennai Super Kings fan video shoot changed everything. She was spotted by a crew member of the movie, Vallinam who suggested to do audition for the second lead role in the film. Though she couldn’t believe it first she accepted it and convinced her parents. She even promised them to return back to academics if the idea doesn’t click. She attended the audition and got selected for the supporting role. Thus Vallinam in 2014 became her first signed role.

However her first released movie was ‘Ego’ featuring newcomers. She received the offer while doing second year graduation. The movie was a box office failure. She played the pivot role of Mohini – the ghost in her next movie which was well received by critics and audience alike and this well-made ‘horror-comedy’ became a box office hit. When the movie was remade to Kannada titled - Namo Boothatma, she reprised her role as Mohini, winning audience’s hearts.
