Anandavally Biography

Anandavally is a cine artist associated with Malayalam cinema. Though she is an actress associated with Mollywood, she gained success as a dubbing artist of Malayalam. She is as successful theater artist too, who started her theater career as a teenager in the late 1960s. She has performed with several prestigious theatre troupes of Malayalam theater including - "KPAC", "Kalidasa Kalakendram” etc. She also worked as announcer in All India Radio. She started her career as a dubbing artist in 1973 which shot her to fame. She has dubbed for almost all leading ladies of Malayalam cinema since 1970s. She has also done around 50 films in supporting roles.

She was born in Kollam on 14 January 1952. Veliyam is her native place. She studied at Kaiyela School, where she has participated in school plays and Kadhaprasangam. She exhibited her talents as a singer during her teens for theater plays. "Chithalu Kayariya Bhoomi" in 1969 marked her acting debut as a stage actress. Since then she has worked with all leading theatre troupes of the state. "Kadu" – marked her acting debut as a film actress. Since then she has portrayed several character roles onscreen including wicked stepmother, doctor, maid etc. She played both positive and negative roles.

A Kadhaprasangam artist during her school days, she showcased her talents as a dubbing artist in the 1970s. A successful radio announcer too, her voice was easily recognizable over the radio as well as other public functions. Her natural voice qualities and voice modulation gave her immense success as a dubbing artist. ''Devi Kanyakumari' for actress Rajasri was her first movie as a debut actress. But she shot to fame with 1980 movie, ‘Manjil Virinja Pookkal', where she dubbed for Poornima Jayaram. There was no turning back after that.
