Amruta Sant Biography

Amruta Sant is a newcomer actor associated with Marathi entertainment industry. She is a part of Marathi theatre apart from Marathi film industry, who is gaining attention in the recent times. Since December 2015, she is a part of the newly started television series, Saraswati, aired on Colors Marathi which is loved by Marathi TV buffs. The serial also stars Titeeksha Tawade, Madhav Deochakke, Surekha Talwalkar and Shekhar Phadke in pivot roles. ‘Manjula’ directed by Nishikant is one of her memorable plays during college days, that is still popular.

 

Amruta Sant believed in creativity and always tried to do something different. She belonged to the same batch of actress Aditi Sarangdhar and Kranti Redkar, from Ruia College, the cultural hub of Mumbai. She also got many opportunities to perform on stage since college days. She has also participated in several inter collegiate drama competitions. Later her experience in stage plays gave her opportunities in movies and television serials. Even while she got less opportunity from both those fields, she continued with her plays. Till now she has performed plays in Gujarati, English, Urdu, Punjabi etc. She has been associated with many theater troupes including the prestigious Pritvi Theatre at Mumbai.

 

In 2016, she got MICTA (MAAI)  award in Australia, for her play Talyat Malyat as best supporting actress and Chitra Padarpan award  (by journalists from pune) for her film Panhala, as best actress.

 

Her mother is a Punjabi, while her father is a Maharashtrian. She enjoys both Punjabi and Marathi plays. Amrita is meant for intense emotion filled roles. Though she is not curious about typical Marathi soaps, she has performed in few episodes of serials like Asmita, where there is a scope for acting. She played the role of a schizophrenic patient in detective series, Asmita. Makarand Deshpande’s ‘Saturday Sunday’ and Nagesh Bhosle’s film ‘Panhala’ are among her noted film roles. Amruta has also performed in an Indo-American film ‘Breakdown’, and a Marathi play, ‘Talyat Malyat’ directed by Abhijit Guru.

 

She has worked with Pandit Satya Dev  Dubey,  Makarand Deshpande, Sunil Shanbag, Pradeep Sarcar, Vijayabai Mehta,  Sachin Pilgaonkar, Smita Talvalkar and Sangeeth Sivan.
