Amrita Rai Biography 
Amrita Rai is an active journalist and TV anchor. She is a popular newsreader of Rajya Sabha TV who struck headlines soon after the acceptance of her relationship with active congress politician and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh. Soon after both accepted the relationship and expressed their future plans of getting married, their pictures have gone viral over net. The social networking sites are completely taken by gasping exclamations following the news, particularly when such a news is declared during general elections. Singh is currently a General Secretary of the Indian National Congress party's All India Congress Committee and has earlier served as cabinet minister of Arjun Singh and Chief Minister Position of Madhya Pradesh twice.
Singh’s wife Asha Singh died in 2013 after battling with cancer for a long time. After six months, the 67-year old politician formed a relationship with television journalist, 43 year old Amrita Rai. This popular news reader is in her early 40’s. Through twitter, Singh expressed that he has no hesitation in accepting the relationship and that Asha and her husband has already filed a divorce with mutual consent. Singh and Rai are planning to get married soon. The news released on April 30, 2014 went viral over net and receiving warm response from social networking sites. Their pictures are also circulating over net with supersonic speed. Earlier, they have been spotted together at a temple doing worship. When the video got leaked, Singh accused the opposing party for defamation. At that time, the news was quoted as ‘unidentified woman’.
Asha in response to Singh’s twitter message responded that she has already separated from her husband and together they have filed for divorce and that she has decided to marry Singh. Asha is currently working with Rajya Sabha TV and has also associated with many noted media groups like NDTV. Rai’ estranged husband is an associate professor of Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
