Amitov Teja Biography

Amitov Teja is an Indian actor and screenwriter from south India, best known as the son of established cinematographer cum director – Teja, related to Tollywood. He is eldest among three siblings and has made his film debut as a child actor through his father’s debut flick, Chitram, released in 2000. The movie was remarked as a path breaking movie of Indian film history. Later Amitov did a voice actor role in his father’s directorial venture – Nijam and was also directed one short film.

He was born in Mumbai on November 16, 1995 to Teja and his wife Srivalli. When he was born, his father was a busy cinematographer working in Mumbai for many big banners. Teja was also assisting Ram Gopal Varma then. He moved to Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad when Amitov was two years old. He had two siblings - Aurov Teja and Aila Teja. Aurov passed away in 2011 at the age of three suffering from breathing problems and cerebral palsy. He was first seen on screen in a cameo role in his father’s debut film – Chitram in the year 2000.

Amitov studied at Oakridge International School, in central Hyderabad. While studying at school, he worked as the assistant director of Vamsi for the movie - Govindudu Andarivadele starring Ram Charan and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles. He later joined graduation in Film & Television Production program at University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts. But he dropped out of the course after first semester to pursue a career in acting. He moved to New York and attended The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute to train in method acting. Currently he serves as the CEO of the motion picture exhibition company Jayam Movies Pvt. Ltd, and co-chairman of Chitram Movies and its subsidiaries.
