Amit Prasher Biography

Amit Prasher is a film director associated with Punjabi cinema, known for successful comedies. He directed the hit comedy Punjabi films, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera (2013) and Ishq Brandy (2014). Munde Kamaal De is his last released film, released in the year 2015. The movie revolves around three characters who are blind deaf and mute. Amit worked as assistant director of two Punjabi movies with Rannvijay, before he turned a full-fledged filmmaker. He has also been associated with television and ad world as director and many other roles. He is also a producer in Punjabi entertainment industry.

 

Amit Prasher was born on 21 March 1980 in Nakodar, Punjab. He completed his graduation in commerce in the year 2000, followed by Post Graduate Diploma in Commercial Arts from Apeejay College, Jalandhar in 2002-2003. To pursue a career in filmmaking, he did a six-month diploma in Film Making and Direction from the Digital Academy, Mumbai in the year 2004. Later he joined as an assistant director in the industry, and made his first film, Tu Mera 22, Main Tera 22 in 2013. The movie starred Amrinder Gill and Yo Yo Honey Singh in the lead roles as two spoiled rich brothers, alongside Mandy Takhar. The movie was declared a semi-hit at box office.

 

His second release was Ishq Brandy in 2014 starring Roshan Prince, Alfaaz, Wamiqa Gabbi & Binnu Dhillon. The movie produced under banner Future Cine Vision was a box office hit. Thus Amit delivered two hits back-to-back. This light-hearted entertainer received numerous nominations at PTC Punjabi Film Awards in best actor, Supporting Actress, Best Playback Singer male, Lyricist, Cinematography and Background Score categories, though it couldn’t win any. But the movie received positive reviews from critics.
