Amit Kilam Biography 
Amit Kilam is the drummer of the popular music Indian Ocean founded in 1990. Asheem Chakravarty, Susmit Sen and Rahul Ram are the founding members of this popular rock band and Amit joined the group in 1994 while at college and thus junior to all the rest three. Apart from giving several live performances, the band has also been associated with a few Bollywood movies like Gulaal, Swaraj, Yeh mera India, Mumbai cutting, Black Friday, Hulla, Peelpli live and Satyagraha. Following the collapse and death of its leading vocalist Chakravarty in 2009, his place was replaced by Tuheen Chakravorty and Himanshu Joshi. Susmit Sen departed from the band in 2013 and the only founding member left is Rahul Ram.
Susmit and Asheem were college friends and they started playing together in 1984. Rahul Ram joined them in 1991 and the band received the first recording contract with HMV in 1993, just one year before Amit joined the troupe. Amit Kilam joined the band only in 1994, when their drummer left the troupe. Amit was studying in the college and was much younger than the rest three members. The band lost their major voice in 2009 following the death of their leading vocalist – Chakravarty. Later his place was replaced by two singers and Indian Ocean still performs.
Amit started learning guitar at the age of 4. Amit is into technology and metal machinery. He’s probably the only business-oriented person in the band and he knows the price and quality of each product available in the market. He has a special passion towards his drum kit. The best dressed and best-looking guy in the band attends every single religious festival unlike others. In Amit’s words he is a guitarist by nature and drummer by profession. A R Rahman, Trilok Gurtu and Deep Purple are his favorite musicians. He incorporates Indian rhythms into his drumming in a unique fashion.
