Amish Tripathi Biography

Amish Tripathi is an Indian writer popular with Shiva trilogy. Books on Shiva trilogy that he authored include the novels - The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras. The Immortals of Meluha was his first published book which was a surprise hit and reached the top seller charts within a week of its launch. The Shiva Trilogy has become the fastest selling book series in the history of Indian and has already sold 2 million copies. Forbes India has ranked him #85 in the 2012 Celebrity 100 list. His name has been listed under India's New Icons by the DNA newspaper most recently.

Tripathi was born on October 18, 1974 in Mumbai. He completed his studies from Indian Institute of Management Kolkata. His dream was to become a historian, but chose a career in finance. He worked for 14 years in the financial services industry under several companies before starting writing. His first novel, The Immortals of Meluha was published in February 2010; the first one of Siva Trilogy series. The second book, The Secret of the Nagas was published in 2011 and the last book of trilogy series, The Oath of the Vayuputras was published in 2013. The trilogy is a re-imagination of Shiva's life and adventures. The copyright of its first installment has already been purchased by Dharma productions in 2012 and has already been translated to several languages like English, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Assamese, Telugu and Bengali.

Tripathi is a great devotee of Lord Shiva. That’s the reason why all his published works are related to this mythological figure of Hinduism. His grandfather was a great Sanskrit scholar and inspired Tripathi a lot. Though he turned to an atheist during 1990’s, Tripathi returned back to Hindu beliefs.
