Ambili Devi Biography

Ambili Devi is a Malayalam actress who works in films and television serials. As a film actress she is best known for the role of a disabled girl Meera in Meerayude Dukhavum Muthuvinte Swapnam in 2003, where she played the younger sister of Prithviraj. She made her film debut through 2001 movie, Sahayathrikarkku Snehapoorvam, in the bit role of Kunchakko’s younger sister. After spending a little time in film industry she switched to television industry and got an early breakthrough at a younger age through serial Alphonsamma. She is an accomplished classical dancer also, who has taken formal lessons in Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, folk dance and also bharatnatyam.

 

Ambili Devi was born in Chavara of Kollam district. She took formal training in various classical dance forms at a younger age and has received ‘Kalathilakam’ title in the school youth festival in 2001. Kalathilakam title gave her television offers at a younger age and Samayam was her first tele serial. She has been good in her academics and used to prepare for her SSLC exams at television serial sets. She scored good marks as well. Later she completed graduation in literature and also took MA in bharatnatyam from Bharatidasan University. She married film-television cameraman Loval from Thiruvananthapuram.

 

She has been noticed for sister roles in Malayalam movie. The title role of Meerayude dukhavum Muthuvinte Dukhavum is her most noticed work. She also played Mohanlal’s younger sister role in Hariharan Pilla happiyanu. But when her roles got less noticed on silver screen she moved to small screen. She became a household name through the memorable roles she portrayed in Alphonsamma, Sneha Thooval, Kadamattachan etc. She is a noted TV anchor too and has also appeared in a few ads and private album songs.
