Akul Balaji Biography

Akul Balaji is a south Indian film actor and dancer who predominantly worked in Kannada and Telugu language movies. Akul won the second season of game show Bigg Boss Kannada in 2014. A successful TV host he shot to fame after co-hosting the show "Pyate Hudgir Halli Lifu” for two seasons (2010 and 2011) on Asianet Suvarna Channel. Sudeep was the co-host of this popular show. The show earned him "The most popular anchor award" by Big FM Big TV for the year 2010. Akul has successfully hosted several TV shows since 2007, apart from acting in movies. His popularity on small screen is quite evident after he won the popular show - Bigg Boss Kannada in 2014.

 

He was born on 23 February 1979 in Railway Kodur town, Andhra Pradesh. He moved to Bangalore at age 16. After that he took formal training in Bharatnatyam under the guidance of Usha Datar. He also learnt contemporary dance and Kathak. He was also associated with Pawan Kumar’s theater group since 2004 for a short period. He also attended many workshops conducted by Mahesh Dattani. Though he began his television career as an actor doing small roles, very soon he switched on to the role of a TV host through which he gained instant fame and popularity.

 

Kuniyonu Baara (2007) and Comedy Killadigalu (2008) are some of his early shows as a TV host and with the first season of "Pyate Hudgir Halli Lifu” in 2010, he became a star of small screen. Other noted shows which he anchored include - Halli Haida Pyateg Banda, Pyate Mandi Kaadige Bandru Season 1 and 2, Nodi Swami Naavirodhe Heege, Thaka Dhimi Tha Dancing star season 1 and 2, Zee Telugu 13 Fear is Real etc. He also played lead and supporting roles in a few movies.
