Ajay Thakur Biography 
Ajay Thakur is a professional Indian international Kabaddi player. He currently serves as the captain of Indian national team. He was chosen as the star player of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup final. For his overall contributions towards the field of Indian sports, government of India honoured him with Padma Shri in 2018. Gold medal at Asian Kabaddi Championship 2017, Asian Games 2014 and 2007 Asian Indoor Games are among his major achievements. He is associated with this profession since 2007 and has stayed here for more than a decade. Thakur has been described as one of the best Indian raiders of all time, also known for his attacking style.
Ajay Thakur was born on 1 May 1986 in Dabhota, Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh. He studied at Government Post Graduation College, Nalagarh. His father Chottu Ram was a state level wrestler. His mother’s name is Rajinder Kaur. His cousin Rakesh has represented India in Kabaddi at international level. Ajay drew inspirations from his cousin brother to pursue a career in the same field. He later joined Air India, and has represented it at the Industrial National Championships. He is well known for his attacking skills.
Apart from playing for national team, he is also associated with Pro Kabaddi League since the first season. He has played for Bengaluru Bulls, Puneri Paltan and Tamil Thalaivas at different points of time. He played for Bengaluru Bulls in the Pro Kabaddi League for first two seasons, followed by Puneri Paltan for season 3 and 4 and Tamil Thalaivas in season 5. As a player Kabaddi World Cup 2016 is his most memorable tournament till now. As a team captain, he led the team to finals.
