Ajay Naidu Biography

Ajay Naidu is an Indian born American actor and director. He started his professional career in the year 1985 with the film Touch and Go which he won from an open call. Same year he played the role of a 12-year-old boy with a terminal illness in an ABC Afterschool Special episode, "No Greater Gift". Starting his career as a teenager in films and television series, he later played significant roles in "To Be a Man" in 1986 followed by River Runs Black (1986) and Vice Versa (1988). Then he worked with classic theater till 1995 and returned back to cinema in 1996 with the movie, Sub Urbia where he played the role of store owner, Nazeer Choudhury which earned him numerous awards and nominations for his acting skills. Noted actress Heather Burns is his life partner.

 

He was born in 1972 in Evanston, Illinois, to Indian parents settled there in the mid-1960s. After school education he got opportunity to train from American Repertory Theater's Institute for Advanced Theater Training and his professional career began in 1985. He was active in the field throughout 1980s and 1990s and moved on to adult roles in 1996. Office Space – is one of his most noticed film roles later.

 

Requiem for a Dream, Bad Santa, The War Within, K-Pax, The Guru, Waterborne, Subway Stories and Loins of Punjab Presents are among his film roles and he has also done guest roles in a few television dramas. As a film director his first movie is Ashes, which had a delayed release after four years in 2010. The movie was shown at many international film festivals and earned him accolades as well. Darwaza is his later hit theater work.
