Aishwarya Rajinikanth Dhanush, popularly known as Aishwarya R Dhanush or Aishwarya is better known as the elder daughter of the most popular actor of Tamil cinema, Rajinikanth and the spouse of popular actor of today, Dhanush. Her younger sister Soundarya R Ashwin is a graphic designer of Tamil cinema who is to debut direction field with Kochadaiyaan. The fame song, ‘Why this Kolaveri’ sung by Dhanush is credited to his wife as well. The song is from the movie, 3 which happened to be the debut movie of Aishwarya as a director of cinema. This movie was in news as it’s the association of daughters of two great actors of Tamil cinema – Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth. Dhanush played lead role in this movie and Aishwarya received SIIMA Award for Best Debutant Director nomination for the year 2012. She is an occasional singer also. She has rendered her voice for Natpae Natpae in the movie Whistle and Un Mela Aasadhan of the movie, Aayirathil Oruvan. Aishwarya received nomination for best playback singer female, along with Andrea Jeremiah for this song.

 
Aishwarya was born on 1 January 1982 in Chennai to actor Rajinikanth and Latha Rangachari. Aishwarya got married to the Indian film actor Dhanush in the year 2004 and has two sons, Yatra (born 2006) and Linga (born 2010). Aishwarya met Dhanush for the first time at the first day's show of Dhanush’s film Kadhal Kondaen, the movie that made Dhanush overnight star. It was his second movie only, directed by his brother. When Dhanush was about to leave the theatre, the cinema owner introduced him to Rajinikanth‘s daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya. The next day, Aishwarya sent me a bouquet saying, 'Good work. Keep in touch'. He is two years younger to her. They got married after two years.

 
Aishwarya was a judge on STAR Vijay's dance competition Jodi Number One- season 3. She has also received Kalaimamani award for Dance from the Government of Tamil Nadu and Newsmaker of the Year Award at the JFA Women Achievers Awards, 2012.
