Abhiram Bhadkamkar Biography

Abhiram Bhadkamkar is a very popular and well-established celebrity of Marathi cinema. He is known as a star director, actor as well as screenwriter. He is also a writer and associated with theater as well. His plays are performed in Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati languages. He has also published many story collections as well as novels. Balgandharva, Pachadlela, Aai, Khabardar, A rainy day and Paulwaat are his popular screenplays. As a playwright his noted works include - Dehbhan, Altun Paltun, Pahuna, Sukhanshi Bhadato Amhi, Ladi Najariya, Hasat Khelat and Jyacha Tyacha Prashna. As a film director, Aamhi Asu Ladke is his most noticed work which earned him many state and international awards.

 

He was born in 7 January 1965. He completed graduation in commerce and also took a diploma in journalism. But he was drawn towards acting and thus joined NSD to do diploma in acting. But later apart from being a good actor, he well established himself as a good writer, playwright and director. Balgandharva is one of the highly acclaimed scripts written by Abhiram and the movie was well received by audience too. He received Best Screen Play award in Pune International Film Festival. The movie was a biopic of acclaimed Marathi singer – Balgandharva. He scripted and directed the movie, Aamhi Asu Ladke which was selected for New York Independent International Film Festival in 2006.

 

As a theatre artist, he has also directed a few one-act plays like Pach Shunyanchi Berij, Dhobipachhad, Jhad and Yega Yega Sari. Film City and Behind the stage are his documentary films. He has also acted in the popular series of Doordarshan in the early 1990s – Chanakya.
