Abhijith Biography

Abhijith is an actor associated with south Indian films. He is also known as a singer, producer and director working in Kannada films. Known for playing negative and character roles onscreen he has also done a few lead roles. He is associated with film industry since late 1980s. He has produced and directed two Kannada movies - Jodi No.1 (2009) and Vishnu (2012) under the banner – Sree Balaji Creations. He has also produced one more movie - Samarasimha Nayka in 2005, starring Srinath, Tara and Rashmi in the lead roles. Abhijith has acted in more than 125 movies in Kannada film industry in a career spanning to 25 years.

 

His real name is Ramaswamy. He was born in Chitradurga, Karnataka in 1963. He started his film journey in the late 1980s doing a few bit and uncredited roles. He gained attention for the first time playing the antagonist for 1990 Kannada film - College Hero. It was followed by another negative role in Chaitrada Premanjali, which established him as a villain. Sindhoora Thilaka, Server Somanna, Bhootayiya Makkalu, Ranjitha, Rashmi, Muddina Maava and Thumbida Mane are a few of his early films and he played both positive and negative roles.

 

Abhijithm who is also known as a singer hosts one musical show – Aksharamaale on Udaya TV since 1999. The show has successfully completed 15 years, indeed a good achievement. It’s a singing hunt show aired on Udaya TV, co-hosted by Sangeetha Ravishankar and Anuradha Bhat. He played a double role in his directorial venture, Vishnu, which became quite controversial for its title. He made a guest appearance in 2014 movie – Abhimanyu. In 1996 he received Bharath Udyog Samastha Award for Best Actor Of The Year, apart from Abhinava Chathura award in 2010.
