Abhijeet Chavan Biography

Abhijeet Chavan is a popular actor associated with Marathi and Hindi entertainment industry. He acts in movies and television shows, apart from theatric and stage performances. Abhijeet Chavan Superfast Comedy Express is one of his most popular comedy shows on Marathi television, where he plays a troubled teacher of notorious students, Bandu and Moru. He played supporting roles in Bollywood films - Split Wide Open (1999) directed by Dev Benegal and Aap Kaa Surroor: The Moviee - The Real Luv Story (2007) starring Himesh Reshammiya.

 

Chavan hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. 10th April is his birthday. He got noticed for the comic roles he played on big screen as well as small screen. He has been a part of many successful comedy shows on Marathi television. He started his film career in 1999 with the Hindi film, Split Wide Open (1999) directed by Dev Benegal. The film starred many foreign actors and was showcased in many international film festivals. When released in India the movie has been one of the most controversial Indian films of 1990s. The movie starred Rahul Bose, Laila Rouass, Ayesha Dharkar and Shivaji Satham in key roles.

 

He acted in the Marathi films - Shan (2006), Gojiri (2007), Gajrachi Pungi, Uchla re Uchla (2011), Baburao La Pakda (2012), Rajwada (2014) and the most recent - Majha naav shivaji (2016). He is extremely popular in Marathi television scene. His character "Master", supported by Ashish Pawar in Comedy Express is loved by TV viewers a lot. His punch line, "Benchvar…. Bench var ubha Karen" is extremely popular. He has been a part of Marathi stage plays - Aamacha hasawanyacha Dhanda and Love Guru.
