Aanjjan Srivatsav Biography

Aanjjan Srivatsav is a noted actor of movies, television as well as theatre. He was the Vice-President of IPTA Mumbai for many years and is a noted theatre artist. He works as a character artist, most notably in Marathi and Hindi movies. Salaam Bombay!, Flvaours, Mississippi Masala, Gol Maal, Bemisal, Khuda Gawah, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Pukar are a few among the noted roles he played in Hindi movies. he is equally successful in television and has appeared in numerous television ads also. Among his television serials, Doordarshan serial, Wagle Ki Duniya and Wagle Ki Nayi Duniya during late 1980’s and early 1990’s made him a household name among Indian television audiences. Zindagi (1984) and Nukkad are other popular television serials.

Aanjjan also known as Anjan was born in Kolkata on June 2, 1948. His father was a respected banker with Allahabad Bank. Anjan completed B.Com. and LLB from Calcutta University and joined theatre in 1968. He has also done plays in All India Radio before joining film and television industry. He has been a part of many successful plays like Bakri, Moteram Ka Satyagrah, Shatranj Ke Mohre, Ek Aur Dronacharya and Chakkar Pe Chakkar. He has done more than 30 plays in his career. He has also appeared in a few Bengali films.

As his father’s wish, he joined banking field. With his father’s permission, he later got transferred to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. He immediately joined Indian People's Theatre Association and participated in theater activities, not only as an actor, but also as its secretary and vice president positions. He has also worked with famous Pritvi Theatre for a short period. Later he entered movies by doing small roles in Golmaal, Kaalia, Bemisal, Sath saath, Jaane bhi do yaaro and Ghulami.
