A. P. Komala Biography 
A. P. Komala is a noted playback singer associated with south Indian films. One of the most sought artists from the late 1940s till the mid-1960s, she has sung in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films. She predominantly worked in Malayalam films till early 1970s and slowly withdrew from the scene with the arrival of new singers. Remembered as one of the earliest singing legends of Malayalam cinema, she has sung songs for Padunna Puzha, Kutti Kuppayam, Lady Doctor, Kunjali Maraikkar, Balyakalasakhi (1967), Kuppivala, Shree Rama Pattabhishekam, Bhakta Kuchela, Christmas Ratri, Naadodikal, Bhakta Kuchela, Porter Kunjali, Atom Bomb, Sarpa Kaavu, Viruthan Shanku and many other hits.
Viralonnillenkilum Veeranallenkilum from Velu Thampi Dalava and Velukkumbo kulikkuvan from Kuttikkuppayam are her popular Malayalam songs. Though she has been associated with all leading music directors of Malayalam film industry, she regularly received only second lead actresses’ songs or chorus songs where she sang aside other prominent singers like Leela, Santha P. Nair, Susheela, Jikki etc. She has sung many Malayalam duets with male playback singer of oldies - Kamukara Purushothaman. She was frequently associated with T. G. Lingappa and Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy team for Tamil movies.
She rendered her voice for a few songs of Ghantasala’s compositions of Telugu musical - Sri Satyanarayana Mahatyam. She has been frequently associated with this legendary musician in the 1950s and 1960s. Shantinivasam, Chandraharam, Patala Bhairavi, Pelli Chesi Choodu and Parobakaram need special mention. As a romantic singer, her duets with Seerkazhi Govindarajan and T. M. Soundararajan are noted most and she has worked with many early stars of south Indian music industry. She is known for many hit female duets as well. She has also been associated with KPAC theater troupe and has sung some popular songs like Chakkara Pandalil Then Malar Choriyum.
