A. G. K. Gokhale Biography 
A. G. K. Gokhale is an Indian Cardiac Surgeon at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad. He is the first surgeon to perform the first successful human-to-human Heart Transplant in Andhra Pradesh, India. He is also the Chairman of the charitable trust called "Sahrudaya Health, Medical and Educational Trust" at present. He was a tennis player and has played many national and international games in the past.
Dr. Gokhale hails from an agricultural family at Thamarisa, a small village in AP. His parents are Alla Venkateswara Rao and Jhansi bai. He has 3 siblings of whom Dr. Ramaseshaiah Alla is an eye surgeon and Aruna Kumari Parvathaneni is a retired principal from Railway Mixed High School, Vijayawada. Dr Gokhale is married to Dr Surapaneni Venkata Lakshmi, a paediatrician and neonatologist. The couple has two daughters.
Gokhale completed his schooling from Zilla Parishad High School in the year 1974. After that his family moved to Gundur. He joined J. K. C. College for Intermediate and passed out in 1976. He completed MBBS from Govt. Medical College, Guntur in 1982, followed by M.S. General Surgery in 1985 from the same medical college. Non-PG registrar and PG registrar were the primary posts held by Gokhale soon after studies. He completed both M.Ch (Cardiothoracic surgery) from Dr MGR medical university, Chennai and DNB in Cardiothoracic surgery from National Board of Examinations in New Delhi in the year 1990. Later he worked for a couple of years as Assistant Professor in Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad.
During 1990’s, he worked in many foreign countries including USA and Australia and returned back to Andhra Pradesh in 1996 updated with the recent advancements in the field of surgery. He worked as Director & Senior Consultant - Division of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Mediciti Hospitals, Hyderabad, India till 2003. Global Hospitals, Hyderabad and Yashoda hospitals, Secunderabad are other hospitals where he worked later.
