A. C. Murali Mohan is a popular actor and film producer associated with Tamil cinema, known for playing character roles. He started his film career in Telugu films in 1975 and has played lead roles in the first phase of his acting career before moving to supporting roles. He has shared screen space with leading ladies of that time, Jayasudha and Jayachitra. He committed suicide at his residence in Chennai on June 25, 2014 in his middle ages. He was only 54. He was survived with his wife Seetha rani and son, who is in US.

With early 2000s, he became quite active in the Tamil entertainment industry. He started doing character roles for Tamil films, and till 2014, he has given some memorable roles to Tamil cinema. Alli Thandha Vaanam, Boys, Minnale and Rendu can be included in the notable list of movies. He was active in television scene as well when he passed away. Also featured in several TV commercials, his ‘Horlicks’ advertisement is extremely popular. He was referred to as ‘Horlicks’ uncle in ‘Minnale’ (2002) film by actor Vivek which became an instant hit when the film got released.

He was born on June 1, 1960. His real name is Bala Murali Mohan. He marked his film debut in 1975 and has played lead hero roles before switching to character roles. He also started a film production house and produced one film before he took a break from film scene in the early 1990s to join National Film Development Corporation. He returned back to silver screen in the early 2000s with Tamil-Hindi bilingual Hey Ram (2000), and later appeared in several popular TV shows also. He was acting in TV serials such as ‘Vamsam’ and ‘Thendral’ when he committed suicide. The reason is unknown.
