Teacher is believed as equal to God. They are the Gods who help us to shine in our life; they teach us how to become successful in life. This is the reason that a teacher is said to be equal to our father in Hindu Mythology. And teacher’s day is the day to thank such an important person in our life and celebrate it grandly. Teacher’s day is celebrated on 5th of September of every year. Celebration of Teacher’s Day was started in the year 1962.

The best teacher Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishna:

Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishna is the second president of India. He is also a pandit and a teacher. He was born on 5th of September, so that day it is celebrated as The Teacher’s Day. There is a interesting story behind this. In the year 1962, Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishna was working as the President of India. The old students of Mr Radhakrishna planned to celebrate his birthday very grandly; regarding this they consulted him, who told them that as he loves and respects the teaching field, he will be happier if it is celebrated as a Teacher’s day rather than his birthday. So from that day on wards, with respect on Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishna, we are celebrating his birthday as Teacher’s Day.

We all see the programs celebrated in the schools and colleges, where we can find many stories and songs about teachers which are very interesting. We can also see children participating in fancy dress competitions by dressing up themselves as teachers. These all will remind us our school days. Children by participating in such competitions will come to know what teacher is and what the responsibilities of a teacher are. This Teacher’s day is like a break to the Teachers. They will always be busy with classes & exams, so this day will give them a change and fun.

Though born and bought up in a very poor family, Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishn was a hard worker who could become such a successful teacher and president. Let us respect him and get inspired with his work by remembering him on this day.
