Uttarakhand - Nainital

Uttarakhand is one of the Indian states that into existence in the year 2000 with Dehradun as its capital. Dehradun is considered as one of the most beautiful cities in the country along with Mussoorie, Almora, Nainital, Ranikhet, and Roorkee being other cities having tourist or academic importance.

The state is blessed with places like those that Haridwar, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Uttarkashi and valley of flowers, all situated on Himalayas. The state remains full of tourists throughout the year enjoying the wonderful scenic beauty and visiting other tourists’ interest places including world famous Jim Corbett National park, banks of Ganga, Rishikesh, Laxman Jhula, and Hemkunt Saheb.

Nainital

Nainital is one of the most beautiful hill resorts situated in India where tourists can reach by bus, taxis or private cars. As soon as the tourists reach to Nainital, the Naini Lake welcomes them with open arms as the taxi stand and bus stand are situated on the beginning of the Mall Road where no vehicular traffic is allowed. Tourists can use the services of a porter or man pulled rikshaw to reach to their hotels. Incidentally, the Mall road is full of residential hotels and restaurants to suit all budgets.

Tourist interest places in and around city

Naina Peak – Naina Peak is the highest peak in the area situated about 6 km at 2600 meters from the sea level where tourists can reach in about two hours walking through greenery and watching the beauty of Mother Nature.

Snow View – Another tourist center located at the distance of 2.5 km where you can walk or go by ropeway or riding a horse. You can have glimpses of snow-clad hills through a binocular placed there for the purpose.

Nainil Lake- It is the main tourist attraction of the city with boats available for fun ride in the lake. You can see the famous Devi temple situated on the bank of Lake near the Maidan where tourists gather to enjoy different activities.

Zoo- There is a zoo in the city itself having different wild animals and rare birds for the benefit of tourists.

Bhimtal- Bhimtal, one of the Nine Lakes of Nainital is located at about 22 km away from city. Tourists can go there by bus services or taxis plying regularly. The main attraction of Bhimtal is the restaurant in the middle of the lake where tourists spend few hours enjoying the boating experience.

Other Lakes to visit in the area include, Noukuchiatal and Kurpatal.
