Mast Girl Of Bollywood - Raveena

Raveena was one among the leading ladies of middle 90’s of Bollywood. She has acted in a few south Indian movies as well. She is fondly known as ‘Mast girl’, after the success of Mohra and its super song, ‘Tu cheez badi hai’ in 1994. Andaz Apna Apna, Aks, Ziddhi, Khiladiyon ka khiladi, Bade miya chote miya, Dilwale, Ladla and Daman are other memorable roles. She won best actress award in National Awards for her powerful role in ‘Daman’.

She debut Bollywood with successful movie ‘Pathar ke phool’ opposite Salman Khan. She has become a part in the success of many Bollywood movies during middle 90’s and was paired most with Akshay Kumar, with whom she had a brief relationship with. The pair was successful in Mohra, Khilodiyon ka khiladi though failed in Keemat and Dava. She has delivered successful movies opposite Saif Ali Khan, Govinda and Sunny Deol too. Opposite Govinda, she has done a lot of movies of which Bade miya chote miya and Dulhe raja were most sucecsful. Aunty no.1, Pardesi babu, Anari no.1, Akhiyon se goli mare and Vinasak failed at box office. Yet she was considered most successful opposite Govinda. She was casted as main heroine in the dream project of Mukul Anand, Dus which was never completed due to his sudden death.

She has done special roles in a few hit movies like Mein khiladi tu anari, Ghatt and has performed in the song ‘Shahar ki ladki’ of Sunil Shetty’s Rakshak. She has done two movies opposite Shah Rukh Khan and both failed at box office – Zamana Deewana and Yeh Lamhe Judaai ke. Actually Yeh Lamhe Judaai ke was shot during 1994 yet released 10 years later in 2004. Obviously the movie bombed at box office. Among all are masala movies, Andaz Apna Apna was appreciated most and is considered as a classic comedy till now. She was paired opposite Salman Khan and Aamir Khan – the only movie where both these Khans worked together. She was given the screen name ‘Raveena’ in this movie. Later she has done one movie with Salman Khan – Kahi pyar na ho jaaye in 2000. She was a rising star of Bollywood, though through wrong selections couldn’t reach a height that she was really designated for. Yet for a few movies like Mohra and Ziddhi, Bollwood lovers still remember her a lot.
