Kangana Ranaut is one among the leading actresses of Bollywood at present. She is known most for her lovely face and fashion than her acting career. Yet she has given powerful performance for the movie ‘Fashion’ for which she won National awards in the supporting category. Her role in the first two movies – Gangster and Woh Lamhe were well received and got critical acclamation as well. For her powerful performance in the debut movie ‘Gangster’, she won ‘New face’ award in many award ceremonies including Filmfare and Asian festival of first films.

It can be noted that in almost all characters she played, she played the role of a model or an actress giving her ‘the model’ tag. Yet through her performance in ‘Tanu weds Manu’, she broke the myth of fashionable girl. She was casted as a Punjabi girl opposite Madhavan and it was a hit too making everyone believe that she can handle both modern and traditional roles with ease.  In the movie Fashion, she powerfully captured the troubled version of a model and her addiction to drugs. She won numerous awards for this role including Filmfare and National awards. Dress malfunction of a model was also shown in this movie.

When she debut Bollywood through Gangster and Woh lamhe, she gave signs of a promising actress to the whole world. In the movie ‘Woh lamhe’, she brought back to celluloid the life of yesterday actress Parveen Babi. She gave 100% perfection to the role and never appeared onscreen that she was just a new comer. Songs like ‘Bin tere’ and ‘Kya mujhe pyar hai’ were blockbusters during 2007. She gave the same performance for her next movie too. In both the movies, Shiney Ahuja was her co-star. In Gangster, we could see the negative traits of both Kangana and Imraan, and the movie will be remembered forever for its climax and beautiful songs pictured on them both. Her role in ‘Life in a Metro’ was also well noticed.      

In midst of a few flops, she returned back with her make over and powerful performance in Raaz: The mystery continues, Tanu weds Manu, Double Damaal, Once upon a time in Mumbai and Shootout at Wadala.
