Hyderabad is a part of the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh state and is one of the biggest cities of India with a huge population that ranks fourth among other Indian cities. The city was formerly known as Golconda and it is here that the famous Kohinoor diamond was mined. It has a long and strong historical background and is known for its tradition and cultures that started from the time of Chalukyas and Khilji dynasties. Qutb Shahi dynasty of 15th century has a great impact on the buildings here and the colossal arches of Golconda Fort reflect their influences. Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, King Kothi Palace, Falaknuma, Purani Haveli, Mecca Masjid and Charkaman are some of the places of historical importance in Hyderabad.

 

Hyderabad is famous for Hyderabadi cuisine which consists of spicy rice, chicken and meat varieties. Hyderabadi cuisine is influenced by the French, Turkish, Irani and Arabic cuisine and some of the popular items are Hyderabadi Biriyani, Shammi Kebab, Sheekh Kebab, Hyderabai Haleem, Qubani Ka Meetha, Faludha, Kaddu Ki Kheet and Double Ka Meetha. In the multi-cuisine restaurants of Hyderabad, many other varieties of other cuisines are also served that will cater to the needs of different types of people.
